Oops, been really busy and haven't post for a while.
Nevertheless, am making an effort to show you what has been happening though.
The fair at the community centre was not really good as the target was all wrong. Most of the visitors were heartlanders with very young children and they were more interested in kiddies stuff then jewellery. My patrons were the organisers themselves and they bought quite a few pieces each and I even had special orders. So it wasn't so bad after all since the rental was relatively cheap.
In my exploration to buy Japanese material, found this quaint little shop at Sunshine Plaza selling pretty nice materials. Unfortunately, this shop is only opened on Fridays when they conduct Quilting classes. Daughter and I went down to buy some material and decided there and then to join the quilting classes. However, we couldn't jump in to make our own project but had to do the "pillow" project Ok, no problems,, will get this through sooner than what the teacher expects. The entire project was to be handsewn - not something I would like to do for big projects for sale.
Completed my pillow in 2 lessons and started on my 2nd project at the 3rd lesson. Teacher wasn't too happy and not very enthusiastic at my progress. Of course she hopes for us to be slow, attend her lessons weekly (only S$10 per lesson but the expensive part is the packages that they sell). She just told me what to do and told me to do it myself at home. Ha...will try to complete the 2nd project at the 4th lesson and sayonara!
I've started on my bag - a carry case for my babes - and once it's done will show it here.
But meanwhile, I've also added on some more babes too.
Lookee...
Been invited to sell my jewellery pieces at the Bukit Batok Community Club Open House this weekend.
Since I've already put some pieces at Handz@work in NSRCC, I've got to rush to make more pieces for my sale at the CC. Last evening, turned out these pieces. Please give me your comments if you have any.
Will have to come up with more....very soon..
I did a dress for Polly, my prima dolly. Actually she is already so beautiful that I'm wondering if I should customise her. What if I blunder? What if she turns out really yucky? Oh..I'm undecided... Look at her now...isn't she beautiful?
Beside her is Riva who is a natural beauty.
My daughter wanted to learn how to crochet for her babies too and when I told her I did that blue outfit in an hour, she immediately attempted to try. Well she did get the outfit almost done in 2 evenings and now it's lying on her table waiting for the straps to be attached.
It always looks easy....when others are doing it!
I completed a class at the school with 17 students. The kids were very creative indeed. Many came up with designs that I would say is absolutely beautiful for having only had 1 lesson. I must admit that some had difficulty at the start of the lesson with their clay and they played around with it for such a long time that the clay just hardened and cracked. I had to save them and they were so amused that it could be saved when they thought it was beyond salvage.
Then when one of them broke her clay piece, she looked at me with such dismay,
When I told her I could save that piece, the whole class laughed and actually asked me what I couldn't save!!
Well, the lesson went on pretty well and I must say I am very proud of it. Here's a picture of some of what they had done.... Unfired pieces....
Looking forward to the next lesson...
I've been again approached by another school to hold classes for their students. I am glad that I am able to share the art of making jewellery with the students and help some of the kids to gain a focus in their lives At the same time, they too can learn some entrepreneurial skills when they come out to society.
But this weekend, I've been completely sidetrack from my jewellery making by my daughter into BLYTHE. I got myself another 2 petites. Perfect Hollywood and Na Pua Liko. Holly came without a stand and her shoes are painted on so she is not able to have new shoes to wear! but I am make her new clothes to make up for the loss. Poor girl.
Na Pua Liko had shoes but I couldn't put them on for her. They just wouldn't fit irrespective of powder, stretching etc which I have been told to do but none worked. Then when my daughter came home, she tried to help me put on her shoes but accidentally dropped it onto the floor. As the flooring has designs on it, there was no way we could look for it. My daughter deccided to call her Cinderella since she lost a shoe!
My daughter wants to customise her dolls and she wants me to learn the art too. Well, Iike I said, I was so sidetracked that I even went ahead to buy a prima dolly so that I can use her for customisation.
So now I have Night Flower, Darling Diva, Gentle River, Prima dolly Violet, Feel the Sky and 3 petites, Perfect Hollywood, Na Pua Liko, Momolita.
I''m also to pick up Mademoiselle Rosebud as I noticed it is rather difficult to find her and Save the Animals. I've also ordered Hello Harvest and she should arrive by end August.
I'm going to crochet some clothes and also sew some for my babes.
My daughter introduced me to Blythe and initially I got myself only one miserable doll, night flower. At first, I fell in love with her because of her little mole below her right eye but as time passes, i began to lose interest in her and she was left standing around. i love girly stuff and felt that she wasn't girly enough. However, my daughter continued in her frenzy purchases and she has many really nice girly ones but she wouldn't exchange with me!!
Anyway, when I heard she wanted to go down to 'aunty's' to see more dolls, i felt that i wanted a girly one and actually thought i would settle for mademoiselle rosebud but as she was going for S$280, my daughter felt that she was at her peak already. ur...so what was i going to get? there were so many to see and decide and what i wanted was a girly babe. i was then shown darling diva, the anniversary of 2006. wow! S$700 for that....am i nuts to go overboard for it? maybe but also because my daughter bf was indeed persuasive - sounds like aunty was giving him commission for it...
At first i didn't feel anything for the petites but when my daughter bought the momolita, i loved her hair and eyes so i decided to get a petite.
When i got home and opened her up, i fell in love with her immediately as she as absolutely beautifu
l. I searched the net and found a site in Singapore selling lots of petites and truly, his price was certainly cheaper than 'aunty's' so i decided to order on line and i'm waiting for them to arrive. 3 days was what it said but given that today is our national day, it should then take a little longer than expected.
now i have another set of babes to look after apart from my flesh and blood, and the hairy ones.
This is another weekend come and gone.
Yesterday being a Saturday, I was kinda of stuck at home simply because I was trying to settle my mind on some personal issues. Eventually in the evening, I decided to go out with my good friend. We first dropped over at Beadhub to collect my clay stuff which I had ordered. Then we hit Ho Sing's for Chicken rice. Hmm...either I'm not very hungry or the standard seemed to have dipped. But we had a good meal and a good sharing too. Bought some pineapple tarts and beancurd tarts from the famous shop next door.
Then we went to Pagoda street for a rub on my aching back. The massage was good but today, i'm aching..ouch...a different kind of ache.:)
Anyway, I am going to put up some more pictures of my collection for viewing pleasure.
This started as something which was such an "eye-some". I had to connect all the jump rings together, insert an elasticed beadwire and intertwinned the chain and voila! the chain collapsed into that one big muddle before I attached the crackled glass / square crystals and then another threading into the chain again etc. However, the results is beautiful. It's the one size fits all.
S$15.00 each.
Oops, I'm supposed to go pick up my Art Clay silver from the distributors for my classes next week. I'll put up some stuff pictures later when I get back.
VERA
My inspiration for this came whilst watching a Korean drama. There was this beautiful scenery of snow just decending from the sky and the flowers were soon covered by the snow. So I've used button freshwater pearls with many pearlites above. Snow will soon mould to a big round lump when they fall off the petals of the flowers.
A Beautiful piece which can be worn with almost any top to enhance it.
S$35.00
SOLD
These tiny freshwater pearls have only a single drillhole. I have attached tiny eyepins to them and they can be used for dangles for the particular creation. The pearl dangles will enhance your creation.

They can also be purchased with a spacer findings if you let me know.
